Dover Downs has emerged as the premier sports and gaming destination in the Delaware region. Our design included an expanded 2,000 slot video lottery gaming floor, 20,000 SF meeting and banquet space, a 500-room hotel tower along with additional dining and support facilities. All this was master planned by Cope Linder Architects to complement the ongoing roster of activities including NASCAR and harness racing events and casino operations. The new hotel and conference center were realized through a phased development plan which allowed uninterrupted operation with priority to public access to the casino and grandstands.
The design created two new and distinctive porte-cochere arrival experiences. The lobby interior provides swirling stepped ceilings and graceful transitions to the new casino gaming floor. The layout creates a comfortable scale, reinforced by lighting and finishes chosen to establish a timeless ambiance. This design completely transformed the venue from one perceived as a tired and dreary showroom floor to a spectacular and vibrant club atmosphere, targeted to a new regional demographic and resort guest.
