Resulting from an earlier design competition, Cope Linder Architects was retained to dramatically expand and completely reposition the existing Caesars property along the famed Atlantic City Boardwalk. After an exhaustive analysis of the existing property and physical plant and a thorough master planning effort, Cope Linder embarked on the design and documentation of a phased development that would dramatically transform this property to one of the most iconic and enduring Atlantic City destinations.
The new 620-guestroom, “Centurion Tower”, with ballrooms and a conference center and carefully concealed new central loading dock, was added near the property’s Boardwalk frontage, linked by a three-story bridge to the main casino podium. The gaming floor was almost doubled in size by strategically removing an existing low-hanging mezzanine, a vestige of the original motel structure and a dramatic new “Temple Lobby” replete with a new reception area, high-end restaurants and boutiques was developed. A new and spacious porte cochere area was carved out of the existing structure, festooned with Caesars’ Roman themed statuary and fountains aimed at enhancing the arrival sequence for guests at the property. This work was painstakingly coordinated to permit the 24/7 continuous operation of the property. The entire guest experience was dramatically transformed into a seamless process. Subsequent work at Caesars included a bi-level pedestrian bridge connection over the Boardwalk to the retail and restaurant offerings at the Pier Shops.
This project, delivered on-time and on-budget, representing a $280M expenditure, and this was Cope Linder Architects’ first significant gaming-oriented project.
