This former industrial brownfield site will be redeveloped with a mix of office, retail, restaurant and residential uses. The program of 1,029,000 SF mixed use is organized by new roadways and public spaces extending along the site’s ½ mile length of Lehigh River frontage and emphasizes public park space and new street infrastructure. The plan realizes the city’s long range plan for an extended riverfront development district. A continuous pedestrian path follows the river’s edge and links to the adjacent neighborhoods. The master plan includes architectural design criteria which encourages street front retail and coordinates design through an owner association review process. Structured parking is designed to be efficient and economical, while screened from view by residential apartment development along the street front. The first phase of development is underway with Cope Linder Architect’s design for 615 Waterfront Drive, a 160,000 SF eight-story office / retail building with terraces overlooking the river.
